There are over 600 registered Masters Swimmers in the Niagara LMSC. Anyone 18 years of age or older is eligible to join Niagara Masters. No prior competitive swimming experience is necessary. Our ranks include swimmers of all abilities from novice swimmers to national champions.
United States Masters Swimming is an organization dedicated to competitive and fitness swimming in the U.S. for adult swimmers aged 18 and over. There are over 50,000 swimmers registered with United States Masters Swimming. USMS holds national championships each year for short course yards in the spring and long course meters in the summer. Many USMS swimmers also compete in the Masters World Championships, which are held every two years in a long course meters setting.
For fitness swimmers, being part of a masters swimming program provides a coached workout for help with swimming technique, and a pool full of teammates to encourage each other to continue with the swimming regimen. USMS hosts two Fitness Events each year: the Check-Off Challenge and Go The Distance. These events allow swimmers to stay motivated by presenting goals that can be completed through practice.
