The USMS Long Distance Committee recently announced the 2013 Open Water & Long Distance All-Stars. Bruce Gianniny was selected as the All-Star for Men 60-64 by accumulating the highest number of points in a series of OW & LD national championships for his age group. The last Niagara member to be selected for this distinction is his wife, Dana, back in 2009. Congratulations, Bruce!

Please check our calendar for meet information on all of our upcoming SCY events:

Our first meet in 2014 is in Skaneateles on January 19th. The meet hosts have always run a smooth meet and the facility is quite nice!

The following week features the Nickel City Splash Winter Whiteout on Sunday, Jan 26th. This meet will be held at the University at Buffalo. The Board is especially happy to sanction a meet in Buffalo, as it has been several years since a host has been available. We hope you are able to make this event to support the area! If it proves to be a success, maybe it will turn into an annual event.

On February 15th, the Syracuse Chargers Swim Club host the Syracuse Sweetheart Masters Meet. They were the hosts of last year's event at SU in March; this year the meet will be held at Jamesville-DeWitt Middle School.

Heading into March, you'll see the annual BUMS competition at Binghamton University, held on Sunday the 16th. This is another great competition, as it is strongly attended by the BUMS, who are the largest registered club in Niagara.

The Stacy Moor Memorial Meet at RIT wrapped up around 12:30 pm on Sunday. There were 56 swimmers in attendance. The meet results have been posted. After an early look, it appears that 10 swimmers set 15 new LMSC records! Congratulations to all record breakers and everyone who made it to the meet.

Our next Niagara LMSC sanctioned event is at Ithaca College on Saturday, December 14th for their 16th Annual SCY event. Of course, they switched facilities a two years ago when they had their new pool built and there have been over 80 swimmers at each meet since then.

There was a late bid on the Colonies Zone SCM Championship. That meet will occur the same weekend at Boston University. This event has been posted to the calendar.

In other news, Andrew Schaefer (BUMS) won the Men's 25-29 10K Postal Championship with a time of 2 hrs 23 minutes and 12 seconds. That's a long swim! Nice job, Andrew! Full 10K results are available: here.

Niagara membership total for the 2013 season: 594. This is our highest ever!
